It must be summer! Not only is it a million degrees outside, but we went swimming for the first time this year. Ross had my camera on the wrong settings, so only one of the pictures he took came out. But the ones I took came out just fine.
We also did a little yoga, Cody style.
All in all, it was a good Saturday.
I don't know if he is going to be a chef or a builder. Last night, after Cody went to bed, I moved all the can goods from the wire rack to the pantry, hoping Cody would not find them. But, the pantry is not locked and he knows how to open the door to get his snacks. This evening, while I was cooking dinner, he took all the loose cans out, and put them on top of the freezer. I didn't get any pictures, but I really wish I had. At one point I looked over at the freezer and there were about 10 cans of diced tomatoes on the freezer.
I told him to put the cans back, and he tried. Stood on his tippy tippy toes and reeeaaacchhheeeddd, and just couldn't get the cans into his fingers to take them down. I had to help. I handed the cans to him, and he put them back. It was too cute.
No job at Blue Cross. I got the rejection email today. I think I wanted to much money. Oh well, I guess I will look for something else.
How many meals do you cook at home each week? What do you do for the other meals?
I cook at least 4 days a week. Okay, maybe I should say WE cook 4 meals a week. Generally, Richard cooks on Saturday or Sunday. Or whenever I schedule a BBQ'd meal. I do not BBQ. The other meals we eat leftovers. Or go out. But mostly leftovers. I plan for leftover nights so we don't waste the food.
Cody got into some cans today. Canned tomatoes and tomato sauce. And he began to build a tower that was taller than him. Granted, he isn't that tall, but still. No broken toes, even though the cans toppled over once or twice. Do you think he has a future?
Yes, that is 8 cans tall. And, no, it didn't fall over. Cody took it down, can by can, and rebuilt another tower. And then put the cans back. Yes, really, he did.
Life has gotten a little better. Mom and Dad left today. They were here for my friend Jessie's wedding and for Grannie. The wedding was beautiful, I should have pictures later. Grannie is also doing better. No longer on death's edge. She is in rehab, and then she will go to Kentucky. Mom took her cat with her, so, Grannie is NOT going home again. I still haven't heard back about the job with Blue Cross, but here's hoping. I sent an email today, so we will see.
Maybe if I lose my job, we can hire Cody out to make can towers. Pop art anyone?
So much is going on right now. I had an interview today at Blue Cross. I think it went well, but I am not 100% sure. They asked me what my potluck contribution would be, which is a pretty interesting question. I really hate bringing stuff to potlucks, but I sure love to eat at them. You can't say that in an interview though. I said chocolate cake, everyone loves chocolate cake. Maybe I should have baked some and brought some with me...wonder if I would have gotten the job right away then.
Grannie fell last Sunday and broker her hip. She had hip replacement surgery on Monday and is now recouperating at Los Robles Hospital. Good and bad. Good because she is finally going to live with someone, Mom, who will help take care of her. She can not live on her own any longer. Also good because I have now seen my uncle, my aunt is coming in to town tonight and my mom is coming next week. So, mini and somewhat spaced out, family reunion. Bad because it is so hard to watch loved ones age. She is so weak and old looking, when I feel like she should be full of life, and maybe not running marathons, but at least doing more to enjoy life than watching tv all day in bed. I hope and pray that moving to KY will be a wonderful thing for her, and make her get out more.
Cody has suddenly started saying hello to EVERYONE. Tuesday he was still scared of people, and yesterday, all I hear is Hi! Hi! Hi! to our relatively scary looking neighbor, the little girl in the store and the other parents at day care. Dude is looking to score some points with someone. He also is saying agua, or rather awa, when he wants his drinks. I have a bilingual baby! Must run in the family. I have also lost the cell phone battle with him, much to Richard's disapointment. He has a real cell phone (doesn't work) and whenever he sees someone on the phone, he whips his out, opens it up and puts it up to his ear. He is super cute and getting cuter. Boy are we in trouble!
He was so little once!
It seems like everytime someone one is getting better, something else strikes. We had about two weeks of good health, and now Cody has gunk oozing from his nose (tasty tasty ooze) and I am about to have some teeth pulled. Losing all my wisdom, or I will once both of my wisdom teeth are pulled on Thursday.
In other news, I am looking for a new job. And I may have found one, at Blue Cross. I am talking to the recruiter and am setting up an appointment to come in for some "pre-emloyment testing." I wonder what they test for?
And the Cody pictures.
Today sucked. Biig time. Cody is very strong willed and he still does not know how to speak. Today was the battle of the brownies. I made some brownies the other day, yummy yummy brownies, and made the mistake of giving some to Cody. Today, he wanted some instead of breakfast. And, not that I wouldn't indulge in some before breakfast treats, I told him no. Oh the hysterics! On a scale of 1-10 for temper tantrums, this was definitely a 5. My sweet little boy lots his grip. And then later, after he had calmed down and had some breakfast, he wanted a brownie. Again, I said no. Again with the wailing and the gnashing of the teeth. Such a drama king. Fortunately, I did not sell him to the gypsies or trade him in. But who would want to trade in this cutie pie?
And no, I didnt use that box to lock him up.
Cody is so adorible and thats great he has already learned to put his things back when he is done... read more
